“A voice rose up over the howling wind; another voice responded. Locke could make out neither of them, which he hoped meant that no one could hear his small whimper.”
One always hears about how quickly New Years Resolutions wind up getting broken, usually within the first weeks of setting them, and I’m sad to admit that, already, I’ve been slacking on my RoW goals. I’m usually pretty great about keeping up with them at the beginning of the week; it’s always toward the end that I sort of lose track and get a little lazy. I’m also trying to play more at Fandom High, and haven’t quite found a balance that allows me to still get my work done, without getting trapped in by great threads that leave me just sitting at the computer, playing on the Intrawebz. Still, the progress hasn’t been that stunted. Let’s have a look:
Serpent in a Cage: A page-a-day should have put me at 162 right now, but I’m only at 161. That’s only a page behind, which isn’t too bad. I’ll just have to do some catch-up on my day off tomorrow.
Short Story Collection: I’ve edited two more stories since the last check in (should have been four!), bringing the current total up to 4, and I’m halfway through editing another. I’m hitting a slight funk of feeling that most of the stories will be chucked for not being good enough, but we’ll have to see how I feel once I do get everything gathered together and can pick which ones stay and which ones go. I want to get some new material in there, too, instead of just rehashing all the old, but nothing’s really hit for inspiration quite yet.
The 100 Books Projects: No books finished yet, but making steady progress through the ones in the running right now. Even my reading has been a little stunted lately, thanks to other distractions, but I’m going to try to be more focused in the coming week.
Black Dome Society: DDS has been giving me some frustrations and I’m backtracking, slightly, on how I write. I really didn’t like what I had for the second chapter, so I scrapped it and started over. I’m not liking this new approach either, and I intend to scrap it and start once more, which is killing my work count progress. However, I feel if I hit that stride, everything else will fall into place. I probably have a few more weeks before my partner in this project gets back to the area, and I want to make sure I’m really confident in what I have to show him. I want at least three or four chapters, and, from there, he’ll offer feedback on the direction. So wish me luck on getting this pesky second chapter to work!
Blogging: Numbers are looking awesome for blogging and despite putzing around in my other goals, I have successfully been posting every day. Saturday was almost a goner, but I pulled together and posted something anyway. Go me! Now I just need to focus on responding to my comments in a more timely fashion and reading other blogs more consistently.
How’s everyone else doing? Anyone else suffering a few hiccups in the road after hitting the ground running? But it’s a new week, so it’s time for a new focus and other new stuff to come on in and get going! Don’t forget to check out the other RoWers here, and happy writing everyone!
