I have not had a very successful last few days. Some things in my life have been a little screwy, and the stress inherent in those things have prevented me from dedicating myself to my craft in the way I had intended. But that’s okay. Life happens, and then you just pick your ambitions back up out of the dust of being trampled, brush it off, and get it back in gear.
What this means, in a nutshell, is that I’m definitely behind on my reading, I’m behind on my 70 stories like it’s no one’s business, but, thankfully, that’s all. And that’s not too bad. I almost missed another day over at 750 Words, but I decided to just write out my thoughts instead of continuing the fairy tale story I’m working on over there, so I at least didn’t lose a day. I feel like that’s cheating, since the word babbling isn’t really productive, but maybe it just let me get out all that bad mojo so now I can focus on writing again.
I’m just glad it’s the last day of September, since that puts us almost into October, and lots of exciting things are waiting for me in that month, not to mention it being one more step closer to November. Tomorrow starts Sue Healy’s Novel-in-Six-Months project, and I have not been able to dedicate the time I wanted to in planning just which novel I’m going to be trying to write in those six months. That’s what today will be for: figuring out what tomorrow’s new project will be. At the moment, it’s a toss up between the haunted mansion story or the book that follows Serpent in a Cage (since, for all intents and purposes, that should be finished at the end of the next round of A Round of Words in 80 Days). Or who knows? Something completely new could come out of the day today. I have a Friday of freedom, which is unusual, so I hope I’m able to capitalize on it and get lots of great work done.
